War For Oil

Occasionally I find myself doing a Google search on a whim for some topic or other, then getting all worked up about it. Today that topic happened to be "war for oil" and once again I find myself PO'ed. Perhaps I spend too much time thinking about it, but perhaps most people spend too little time thinking about it.

My surfing today let me to a site that critically examines the 'terrorist' attacks of 9/11. One thing that has always bothered me, in fact I remember talking to my wife about it just after it happened, is that a couple of guys with BOX CUTTERS couldn't be overwhelmed by an airplane full of people. Imagine three or four guys with RAZOR BLADES facing a group of at least 100 people, all frightened for their lives, with at least 20 or 30 men on board (I don't know the actual numbers, just making a point here). It just doesn't add up.

A film I watched recently (The End of Suburbia - I recommend it!), suggests that the world's oil reserves are dwindling, and the USA is waging a war to control the last remaining oil reserves on the planet, in order to prolong the petroleum-addicted "American way of life." We couldn't just go over there and start killing people, but if we're attacked, then with righteous anger we can justifiably go kick some Arab *ss! Yeah!

Problem is, Iraq was supposedly in no way affiliated with the 9/11 attacks. But as long as we're pummeling Afghanistan, may as well send some shock and awe Iraq's way, too! Yeah! And speaking of Afghanistan, why is it we haven't 'found' Osama Bin Laden yet? Could it have anything to do with the fact that the Bin Laden family and the Bush family have been business partners since the 1970's?

It makes me sad to see American kids overseas, talking about serving their country and giving their lives for 'justice' when (in MY opinion) they really know nothing about the actual reasons so many of them are killing and dying - oil and greed.

I say, let's reign in some of our enthusiasm for OilWar, temper it with some healthy skepticism, and do some research about what is REALLY going on. Then, if enough people become educated, maybe we can actually do something about it, instead of being led by lying politicians and media propaganda.

Questioning the 9/11 terrorist attacks, huh? We have much to discuss ... I shall open thine eyes ...
