Lyric of the Day

Occasionally, throughout the day, random song lyrics pop into my head. I have been thinking about putting them on my blog, sort of a "Lyric of the Day" type of thing. I guess I will try it, see how long it lasts. Not every day, mind you... just whenever it happens. Then it will be the lyric of THAT day, and not necessarily a "daily lyric" feature of this blog. Whatever.

Today's lyric is from System of a Down's song "Aerials." I had thought of the particular part of the song I wanted to mention, then, as I was thinking about the song, I decided that the entire freaking song was worthy of including. The lyrics really speak to me right now, and the song just completely rocks. They played this song on SNL and it was one of the greatest things I've seen in years of watching that show (Radiohead was also pretty spectacular on SNL). Anyway, here's the song. Hope I don't get in trouble for reprinting it, but let's be honest... who actually READS this blog anyway?

AERIALS, by System Of A Down

Life is a waterfall
We’re one in the river
And one again after the fall

Swimming through the void
We hear the word
We lose ourselves
But we find it all....

Cause we are the ones that want to play
Always want to go
But you never want to stay

And we are the ones that want to choose
Always want to play
But you never want to lose

Aerials, in the sky
When you lose small mind
You free your life

Life is a waterfall
We drink from the river
Then we turn around and put up our walls

Swimming through the void
We hear the word
We lose ourselves
But we find it all...

Cause we are the ones that want to play
Always want to go
But you never want to stay

And we are the ones that want to choose
Always want to play
But you never want to lose

Aerials, in the sky
When you lose small mind
You free your life
Aerials, so up high
When you free your eyes eternal prize

Armenia called, they want their band back. I said, "fine by me," and hung up the phone really hard. I was having a bad day ...
